GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Principal serves as the spiritual, educational, and managerial leader, fostering a faith-based environment rooted in Catholic values. The Principal oversees curriculum, manages staff according to diocesan guidelines, handles budgets and operations, ensures accreditation, and promotes the holistic development of students and the community. Key responsibilities include promoting Catholic identity, implementing diocesan standards, supervising faculty, working with the Business Manager to manage finances, maintaining records, and collaborating with the Pastor, parents, and the diocese to fulfill the school’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Spiritual Leadership
Ensures quality Catholic religious instruction and models faith.
Promotes Catholic identity through liturgical celebrations, Gospel values, and service.
Fosters spiritual development for students, staff, and the community.
Instructional Leadership
Shapes a culture of high expectations for rigorous, standards-based learning.
Develops, implements, and oversees the school’s curriculum and learning expectations.
Provides professional development and supports teachers’ instructional skills.
Manages student discipline, guidance, and support services.
Managerial and Administrative Activities
Manages school operations and assists with the budget and financial planning.
Hires, supervises, evaluates, and develops faculty and staff.
Maintains accreditation and ensures compliance with diocesan and state policies.
Handles admissions, records, and communication, delegating when necessary.
Community & Collaboration
Collaborates with Pastor, Business Manager, parish, finance council, parish council, school board, other school committees, and the diocese.
Establishes effective communication with parents and the wider community.
Engages in development and fundraising for the school’s stability.

Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student and family information.
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and respect in all duties and interactions.
Represents the Roman Catholic Church and her teachings with discretion and charity.
Spiritual and Community Commitment:
Support the mission, vision, and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church in all work.
Maintain a spirit of prayer and service.
Assist in building a welcoming and faith-filled parish community.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the Catholic Faith and be a practicing/participating Catholic in good standing with the Church.
Responsibility for continued personal, spiritual, and professional growth.
Belief in the vocation of Catholic school leadership.
Strong commitment to Catholic education and the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend mission.
Experience in teaching and administrative roles (5+ years preferred).
Possess an active Indiana State Teaching License and an active Administrator License and/or be actively working towards gaining these certifications.
Ability to work independently to organize and arrange priorities.
Ability to schedule and produce work in a timely manner.
Ability to work closely with the Pastor, including taking direction when provided.
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively in a diverse community environment.
High level of discretion and integrity.
Willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism.
Proficiency in the use of the English language in speech and writing. Proficiency in the use of the Spanish language in speech and writing is positive, but not required.
Preferred typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
Familiarity with various computer/online applications including but not limited to Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Powerschool, FACTS, and Canva.
